In your third year clerkships, you spent a lot of time forming PICO questions and reviewing articles of different study designs: randomized controlled trials, case-control studies, cohort studies, etc. In the fourth-year, we will look at the last study design, the integrative review. The two most common such reviews are systematic reviews and meta-analyses.
We will be looking at an article on the diagnosis of pulmonary embolus using a particular clinical scoring system called the PERC score. The article by Singh et al from 2012 can be downloaded here.
We’ll use this rubric from the User’s Guide, which I copied to Google Docs, to evaluate this article and discuss it. You’ll be leading the discussion.
